Russia launches new cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station

On the 21st, the Russian space agency launched a new Russian "Progress MS-01" cargo spacecraft at the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan with the "Union-U" carrier rocket to deliver supplies to the International Space Station.

According to the Russian Federal Space Agency, the "Union-U" carrier rocket carrying Russia's new "Progress MS-01" cargo spacecraft was launched at 11:44 on the 21st, Moscow time (16:44 Beijing time). After 9 minutes and 30 seconds of flight, the cargo spacecraft disengaged from the third stage of the launch vehicle and entered low-Earth orbit. It is expected that the cargo spacecraft will fly to the International Space Station at 13:31 on the 23rd (Beijing time at 18:31 on the 23rd) after two days of autonomous flight.

The news said that Russia's new generation of cargo spacecraft "Progress MS" series equipped with the new KURS-NA rendezvous and docking system and new control and telemetry systems, and special protection measures for the small meteorites and space debris in space. It is reported that most of the advanced technologies used in the "Progress MS" cargo spacecraft will be utilized in Russia's new generation of manned spacecraft.

The "Progress MS" cargo spacecraft will deliver 2.5 tons of cargo to the International Space Station, including water, fuel, and compressed oxygen.
