We chose PVC flooring, which is stylish, comes in a wide range of beautiful colors, and offers a smooth, flat surface that’s easy to maintain and budget-friendly. However, if the installation is done incorrectly or by an inexperienced team, it can lead to unsatisfactory results—something that can be quite frustrating. Henan Star Building Materials would like to share some important tips with our customers: before starting the installation, it's essential to understand the basic process and methods involved in laying PVC flooring.
First, if your concrete floor is less than three months old, or if you're installing PVC sports flooring on the ground, make sure the environment isn't too humid. Laying PVC in a damp area for an extended period can cause the floor to buckle or develop cracks along the seams. It's recommended to test the humidity levels in the installation area. If necessary, consider installing a waterproof membrane to prevent moisture from rising up from the subfloor.
When installing PVC flooring, make sure all expansion gaps are at least 1 cm wide. This is especially important around door edges, corners, and hidden areas. Avoid estimating the gap size roughly or using a saw blade without precision. Any contact between the flooring and fixtures (like baseboards or cabinets) can create pressure and stress, leading to buckling, warping, or even severe joint cracking.
Always follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions carefully. Different PVC flooring brands may have slight variations in their installation requirements due to differences in production techniques or materials. Installation should never be based solely on personal judgment or experience. It's crucial to train and guide the installers to follow the guidelines precisely.
After the final section of flooring is laid, ensure proper ventilation in the room. Keeping the space well-ventilated helps prevent issues like buckling or joint cracking caused by trapped moisture or temperature changes. Taking these steps will help ensure a long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing result.
