Chagala believes that each building is different, so the technicians need detailed installation information, and they need tools to describe the current installation environment. Previously, they applied the prism technology to this work, but due to the limited weather conditions, practicality was not strong. They have also tried laptops, but laptops are vulnerable to the sun's rays.

Therefore, Chagala and his team started using Google Glass. In this way, technicians can leave their hands free to browse for documents, although they need to occasionally tap the spectacles frame for the next operation.

Chagala thinks, “When your colleague is on the roof, safety is the most important. Therefore, it is very important to leave both hands free.”

Although Google Glass has limitations, it is still very useful. At present, some people have begun to study how Google Glass can serve autism patients and other disabled people. Technology companies Workday and Fiberlink are also developing Google applications for corporate employees, and Sullivan Solar is working on applying Google Glass to blue-collar work.

At present, the development team led by Chagala has developed a Google glasses application. The application is linked to a database and can provide customer information, location information, parts and equipment inventory information. In addition, the staff can also use other functions of the glasses, such as contact with the headquarters, the real-time video transmission of the roof device to get feedback.

Chagala thought of this idea a year ago. He said, “I bought the first Google glasses on eBay. We started researching and developing related applications before the equipment arrived.” At present, this is still the only company in the world. A pair of Google glasses, therefore, staff and developers have to share this pair of glasses. Chagala hopes that when Google opens up the buying channel, they can buy more equipment.

Chagala believes that creating an app for Google Glass is different from creating apps for mobile phones. He said, "It's very difficult to put all the information into this small display. There are fixed patterns in the development and design of mobile applications, but Google application development is not yet mature. Therefore, you can only judge it yourself." Use method."

But several months of hard work have not been wasted, this application is currently operating normally and has been put into use. Chagala said, "I am very confident about this application, but it is still too early to talk about its significance, and the feedback from technical staff is still very positive."

He said that the company's other departments are also studying the application of Google glasses. It seems that Google Glass will most likely be used for training new employees. With Google Glass, the employee’s initial performance can be recorded and can be used in future assessments.
