When a CNC machine tool processes a workpiece, it takes several steps from the workpiece pattern to the machining of the part. After the program is programmed, the contents of the program are filled into the program list in the form of numbers and text symbols (so-called "code"). The different arrangement of the holes in the perforated belt represents different numbers and characters, which the CNC system can recognize. Therefore, the punched paper tape becomes a craft card that the numerical control device can read by itself, and works according to its content. In addition to the perforated tape, punched cards, tapes, etc. can also be used to record the program and control the machine.
