The conference will explore the theme of "Fine Operations and Innovative Services," bringing together domestic and international telecommunications experts, senior internet professionals, and industry leaders to discuss issues related to the精细化 operation of the IDC sector.
Recently, Chen Fen, the Technical Director of Security Dogs, was invited to participate in the press conference room of the IDC Grand Ceremony. When asked about the main cybersecurity challenges faced by current servers and websites, Chen Fen stated that server and website security form a comprehensive system engineering effort. While there’s no absolute security, only relative security, webmasters can enhance their security posture by focusing on three key areas: server environment security, website security, and the security of the website itself.
Chen Fen began researching and developing server security software back in 2007. Since then, he has remained deeply engaged in this field and has been awarded three individual patents, receiving the third prize of the Xiamen Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2010, he led the team to focus on the development of Security Dog software, aiming to position it as the most comprehensive security software and service provider in the server security domain.
China IDC Circle: What are the major security issues currently confronting servers or websites? How significant is their impact? How should we respond?
Chen Fen: This year, numerous high-profile incidents involving major websites have highlighted the severe state of internet security. Password leaks from many community sites and tampering of government agency websites, including those of the Family Planning Commission, the Personnel Examination Bureau, the Civil Affairs Bureau, and others, illustrate the gravity of the situation. Cyberattacks have increasingly become a method for young people to assert dominance and pride, as well as a tool for illegal activities. Statistics show that in 2011, law enforcement agencies across the country investigated 27,000 cybercrime cases, arresting 58,000 suspects. If these trends aren’t curbed, they could severely impede the growth of the internet industry.
Since going live, Security Dogs has helped thousands of webmasters and server administrators bolster their security defenses. The software has successfully thwarted 457,595,018 intrusion attempts. Based on user feedback, the top concerns regarding site and server security include DDoS attacks, site tampering, unauthorized data downloads, malicious links, SQL injections, and XSS attacks.
China IDC Circle: How should users respond to these security challenges?
Chen Fen: Server and website security require a holistic approach. While absolute security may be unattainable, relative security can be achieved through diligent preparation. High-profile breaches this year targeted prominent websites, but regular users can significantly reduce risks by focusing on preventive measures. Security Dog software aims to empower users with enhanced prevention capabilities.
Webmasters and users alike can adopt several strategies to fortify their server and website security: Ensure server environment security by implementing proper system configurations and closing unnecessary ports and services. Maintain website permission security by creating separate users for websites. Enhance the security of the website itself by addressing threats like SQL injections, cross-site scripting (XSS), and malware uploads. Strategies include securing website code, restricting file uploads, and leveraging third-party tools like the Security Dog software.
China IDC Circle: Security Dogs has been focusing on the security domain, conducting research and development. What are the primary areas covered? Who are the target customers?
Chen Fen: Security Dog software specializes in addressing server and website security issues. Our current offerings include server security dogs, website security dogs, and a cloud security center—a suite of server and website security solutions. There is a clear market demand for our software among servers and websites. Through market research and preliminary promotions, we’ve identified our target audience as site owners, IDC operators, corporate users, and government entities.
China IDC Circle: How does Security Dog software differ from traditional antivirus software? What are the standout features? Despite the abundance of free security software, what free services does Security Dog offer?
Chen Fen: Security Dog is indeed a type of security software. Like traditional antivirus programs, we leverage the system driver layer to develop active defense mechanisms such as DDoS firewalls, ARP firewalls, account protection, and file system safeguards. However, unlike traditional antivirus software, which focuses more on internal rule-based systems like virus databases and behavioral patterns, Security Dog allows users to customize rules, providing greater flexibility, particularly for server security.
Security Dog offers the concept of "free high-quality products and services." Users can directly download and install the software from our official website. If any issues arise during use, our customer service and technical support teams are available to assist. Additionally, our products employ a kernel-driven approach, minimizing resource consumption while ensuring robust protection for servers and websites without disrupting normal operations. For novice webmasters unfamiliar with server security configurations, we aim to create a user-friendly, efficient, and easy-to-use server security solution that requires no additional setup post-installation.
Currently, our server and website security dogs offer features such as kernel-driver based anti-DDoS attacks, anti-ARP attacks, anti-WEB CC attacks, active file system protection, server-based active defense, malware scanning and removal, active defense against web-based attacks, anti-SQL injection, anti-XSS cross-site attacks, and protection against unauthorized data downloads. These features remain permanently free. Once the cloud center launches, we will offer premium services such as web page tampering protection and server emergency response to meet the needs of high-end users.
China IDC Circle: In recent years, cloud computing has gained momentum in China, becoming a dominant trend. How does Security Dog adapt to this landscape? What role does Security Dog play in cloud computing? It's reported that Security Dog recently launched the Cloud Security Center platform. Could you briefly explain it?
Chen Fen: Cloud security is an extension of cloud computing. It addresses the security of data stored on distributed systems, defends against hacker attacks, and ensures user privacy. Achieving this requires companies to possess strong core security technologies, a substantial user base, and robust financial backing. The Security Dog Cloud Security System, "Secure Dog Cloud Security Center," is a SaaS+C (Cloud + End) security platform that provides active monitoring, defense, and alerts for servers and websites. Our "cloud + end" model involves the Security Dog Cloud Security Center paired with hundreds of thousands of Security Dog software users. The "cloud" refers to the Security Dog Cloud Security Center, a platform meticulously crafted by our team over the past year using cloud computing technology. The "end" refers to Security Dog software, which has grown to hundreds of thousands of customers and adds tens of thousands of users monthly. With the accumulation of vast amounts of customer data, the "cloud identification" feature of the Security Dog Cloud Security Center can swiftly and accurately identify new malware, malicious links, and attack characteristics, disseminating these insights to all users within moments.
