Improper installation methods are commonly used when setting up NSK bearings, which can lead to serious damage. Therefore, it's essential to understand the correct techniques for installing and disassembling NSK bearings. Proper installation not only ensures smooth operation but also extends the service life of the bearing.
When installing a bearing, you can choose from mechanical, heating, or hydraulic methods depending on the type and size of the bearing. However, never strike the bearing ring, cage, rolling elements, or seals directly. Avoid transferring force from one ring to another through the rolling elements, as this may cause damage to the raceway.
For bearings with a clearance fit, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of anti-corrosion agent on the mating surfaces to prevent corrosion between the components.
Correct installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of NSK bearings. Always follow proper procedures to ensure optimal results.
The 390000 series spherical bearings are typically fixed using a partial sleeve, with a hexagonal screw for securing the assembly. In repair situations, many technicians avoid disassembling the bearing, but it's important to understand the key steps and precautions involved in disassembling these types of bearings:
**Disassembly Steps:**
1. First, use an Allen key to loosen the locking screw on the sleeve. Then insert a small iron rod into the counterbore on the top cover and turn the sleeve in the direction opposite to the shaft rotation to loosen it.
2. Loosen the bolts that hold the bearing housing in place. Carefully remove the bearing along with the housing from the shaft. Make sure to loosen the bearing block bolt at the other end of the shaft to prevent damage between the two bearings.
**Installation Steps:**
1. Before mounting the bearing onto the shaft, remove the fixing pin from the bearing housing. Clean and polish the journal surface, and apply a rust-preventative oil to ensure smooth installation.
2. Apply lubricating oil to the bearing housing and the joint area. Place the bearing into the housing and then position the entire assembly onto the shaft. Push it to the desired location for installation.
3. Do not tighten the housing bolts immediately. Allow the bearing housing to move freely within the housing. Rotate the shaft several times to allow the bearing to self-align. Once properly positioned, tighten the bearing block bolts.
4. Install the partial sleeve. Place it on the inner sleeve’s step and tighten it by hand in the direction of rotation. Insert a small iron rod into the counterbore of the sleeve and tap it gently with a hammer in the direction of the shaft rotation to secure it firmly. Finally, tighten the hexagonal screw on the sleeve.
