Influence of Baking on the Quality of Refractory Preforms
Refractory prefabricated parts are an important variety of refractory materials and their proportion is increasing. Refractory prefabrication is to divide the parts of the high-temperature kiln to be constructed into small pieces in advance, and design a special shape. According to the shape, molds are produced. After the precast molding, curing, and baking of refractory castables are completed at the factory, they are transported to the site. Used after hanging and assembling. Baking is an important process in the production of refractory preforms. During the baking process, the free water and bound water of the preform itself are mostly discharged, and produce higher strength. Baking has a great influence on the quality of the preforms, especially the dense and high-strength refractory preforms with a large volume, because the preforms themselves have a higher density and a larger size. The joint action of water vapor pressure and thermal stress during baking can easily lead to the exfoliation of the preforms, and in severe cases cause the preforms to burst. The baking of existing refractory preforms generally uses temperature control. During the baking, several temperature measuring points are arranged in the drying kiln to preset a baking curve. The baking curve includes a plurality of heating sections and a holding section. By monitoring the temperature at the temperature measurement point, the baking system is performed according to the preset baking curve. The control method is simple and easy, and it is the main control method for the baking of the fire-resistant preforms and other materials. Refractory pre-forms are susceptible to bursting during the baking process, as the castable material abruptly and violently peels off or bursts into a number of pieces from the surface of its structure. The baking temperature is higher or faster causing the preform to burst. In addition to the regular discharge of water, the baking has a negative effect because the baking temperature is higher or faster, that is, the water vapor pressure is too high and the preform bursts.

A thick steel sheet has thickness over 4mm. In practice, we often refer steel plates whose thicknesses are less than 20mm as medium plates; steel plates with thickness between 20mm and 60mm as thick plates; steel plates made by heavy plate mills with thickness over 60mm as thick steel plates. And the width of thick plates ranges from 0.6mm to 3.0mm. Thick plates are classified into ship steel plates, bridge steel plates, boiler steel plates, pressure vessel steel plates, checkered steel plates, automobile leaf-spring, armoured plates and cladding steel sheets.
