In order to enhance the effectiveness of pesticide soaking, it's essential to follow a scientific approach. The China Pesticide Network reminds everyone to pay attention to the following four key points when soaking seeds:

First, choose the right formulation of the pesticide. When soaking seeds, the pesticide should be diluted in water. It is important not to use powdered pesticides directly for soaking, as they may not dissolve properly and could lead to uneven treatment. Always ensure that the pesticide is fully dissolved before use.

Second, measure the solution accurately. The concentration of the pesticide used for seed soaking should be calculated based on the weight of the seeds. This is usually determined by the active ingredient content or the recommended dosage of the product. Proper measurement ensures that the seeds receive the right amount of treatment without being overexposed.

Third, control the soaking time carefully. Seeds need to be soaked for an appropriate duration—too long can cause damage, while too short may not achieve the desired disinfection effect. After soaking, the seeds should be thoroughly rinsed and dried. If the seeds are sensitive to the pesticide, they should be washed with water according to the instructions to avoid phytotoxicity.

Fourth, make sure the liquid level is sufficiently above the seeds. The pesticide solution should be at least 16 cm higher than the seeds to prevent them from floating or exposing parts of the surface to air, which could reduce the soaking efficiency. Also, stir the seeds gently in the solution to ensure full contact with the pesticide, allowing even and effective treatment.
