On July 12, a major milestone was achieved as the world's largest hydraulic double crane, with a lifting capacity of 6,400 tons, successfully completed its dynamic test at Sinochem II Construction Machinery Construction Co., Ltd. This groundbreaking machine was jointly developed by Sinochem Second Construction Group, Zhongke Synthetic Oil Technology Co., Ltd., and Taiyuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. The successful test marks a significant advancement in heavy lifting technology and sets a new global standard.
The crane is designed as a next-generation super-heavy lifting equipment, capable of lifting up to 6,400 tons, reaching a maximum height of 120 meters, and operating at a lifting speed of 6 meters per hour. It can be split into two separate masts, each capable of handling 3,200 tons and reaching the same height. The design allows it to be integrated with existing building frame lifting systems, making it highly adaptable for various construction scenarios.
All lifting frames, sliding mechanisms, and lifting equipment are controlled through a fully automated hydraulic system, achieving 100% localization. Its modular design makes on-site assembly quick and flexible, offering significant advantages over traditional large crawler cranes. With improved lifting performance, lower costs, better interchangeability, and versatility across multiple working conditions, this crane is expected to greatly reduce construction timelines in the coal chemical industry.
In recent years, as China’s petrochemical and coal chemical plants have expanded in scale, the size and complexity of individual equipment have increased dramatically. Single components now weigh up to 3,000 tons, requiring more advanced lifting solutions. Recognizing the growing demand, Sinochem II initiated the development of the 6,400-ton hydraulic double crane. On July 24, 2011, the company launched the R&D project in collaboration with Zhongke Synthetic Oil and Taiyuan Heavy Industry, marking a key step toward meeting the challenges of large-scale construction projects.
